Societies Reps represent the members of all Societies within their category, ensuring that the work of Societies Executive is carried out in the best interest of the student membership and enhances society activity in their area.

Societies Rep Positions

There are 12 Societies Reps, corresponding to each category.

Academic Societies Rep

Represent academic societies on Societies Executive, the student body that oversees societies at Wolverhampton, as Academic Societies Rep.

Charity & Causes Societies Rep

Represent societies that fundraise for charities and champion causes on Societies Executive, the student body that oversees societies at Wolverhampton, as Charity & Causes Societies Rep.

Employability Societies Rep

Represent societies who seek to improve student employability on Societies Executive, the student body that oversees societies at Wolverhampton, as Employability Societies Rep.

Faith & Worldview Societies Rep

Represent faith and worldview societies on Societies Executive, the student body that oversees societies at Wolverhampton, as Faith & Worldview Societies Rep.

Fitness & Wellbeing Societies Rep

Represent fitness and wellbeing societies on Societies Executive, the student body that oversees societies at Wolverhampton, as Fitness & Wellbeing Societies Rep.

Hobbies & Interest Societies Rep

Represent societies dedicated to hobbies and interests on Societies Executive, the student body that oversees societies at Wolverhampton, as Hobbies & Interests Societies Rep.

Union Supporters

Student Communities Assistant (staff support), Community Officer (sabbatical support)

Time Commitment

  • Societies Executive: 2 hours, fortnightly
  • Training and preparation: 2—3 hours
  • All other duties, including student contact: 3 hours, weekly

Term of Office

If elected in October: from election until end of July.
If elected in March: from August to July.

You must be a current student at the University of Wolverhampton when elected, and throughout your time in post, and a member of the Students' Union.

You must be a current member of a Society within the category Societies Rep position when elected, and throughout your time in post.

  1. Attend Societies Executive
  2. Represent the societies within their Society Category to Societies Executive;
    • Meet with the societies within their Sociey Category to consult on changes that will affect societies, share best practice, achievements, and problems.
    • Communicate with their societies to get feedback on initiatives, projects and proposals related to Societies.
    • Feedback from societies to Societies Executive.
  3. Rewiew, discuss and vote on agenda points which are brought to Societies Executive.
  4. Ensure that the Students' Union operates in the best interests of societies.
  5. To be held accountable through the Students' Union website
    • Take responsiblity for leading and enhnacing student experience at Wolverhampton; working with other student representatives and the elected Sabbatical Officers to take their views and opinions into consideration to make the student experience better.
  6. To talk to students face-to-face, and online, and share their concerns and issues raised.
  7. To talk to the Sabbatical Officers, Union, and University staff.
  8. To campaign for change using Create Change.
  9. To promote and bring about change based on their manifesto promises.
  10. To be professional in fulfilling their elected role and duties, abiding by the Code of Conduct.
