The Board of Trustees are the highest level of governance in the Students’ Union; responsible for its strategic management and administration. The Board consists of Four Sabbatical Officer Trustees who are selected by the student body through a yearly cross-campus election, four Lay Trustees and four Student Trustees.
The Chief Executive is required to attend the Trustee Board meetings and other senior managers may attend all or parts of the meeting as required by the Chair. Other observers may be invited to attend and speak at meetings, by invitations of the Chair.
The Trustee Board has overall responsibility for the administration of the management of the Union in line with Charity Law, Company Law and the Students’ Union’s Articles of Association.
The Trustee Board is responsible to the University for ensuring compliance with the Education Act 1994, Part II, Section 22.
The Trustee Board is responsible for the appointment, management, support and dismissal of the Chief Executive including arrangements for an annual appraisal and objective-setting.
As a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee, Wolves SU is legally required to report its finances to the Charities Commission and Companies House each year.
Wolves SU is primarily funded by a grant from the University of Wolverhampton and income generated from trading activities such as Walsall Bar and Café and Business Development.
