SAS School Rep (Undergraduate): Marie Cheer

My name is Marie Cheer and I am currently a first year undergraduate studying towards BSc Microbiology. Although I am a first year I did a foundation year so have been in and around the university now for nearly 2 years.

I am currently the course rep for microbiology and I have been involved with the student union for the past year as I am the president of the mature students society.

I feel I am very organised and confident enough to be able to mix with people of varying levels of authority.

I am very approachable and friendly but also able to put forward a strong argument if the situation required it.

I am very passionate about student’s rights and opinions. I would like to be able to encourage more students to feel that they can come forward if they have any issues within the SAS or in the university as a whole. I would like to encourage course reps to make themselves more known to their fellow students. If elected I will make sure I sit in on course rep meetings on a regular basis.

Because of my involvement with the Student union I know who to refer students to if I am unable to deal with a specific issue myself.

I am hoping to forge strong links with the school heads and deans in order to be able to take issues directly to the people who can make a difference to our learning experience here at Wolverhampton.
