About Jade

I am Jade and I am all about student well-being. I am currently the Community Officer. I'm the glue that holds this dysfunctional officer family together, and just like that glue I promise to make sure you don't fall apart during your degree.
I am the mastermind behind Well-being Month, LGBT History Month AND the Food Bank, to name a few. Listen, I've worked hard this year & I will work harder next year to make sure this SU is JUMPIN JUMPIN :)

Jade's promises

  1. Question time with the Vice Chancellor and OVC to ensure the student voice is heard at all levels
  2. Improve resources for students well-being, and support for students with mental health issues and a disability
  3. Increase student engagement with the SU by putting on more tailored/ student led events for all campuses
  4. To put Students first (i.e regular social media updates & drop-in sessions to keep all students in the loop)
  5. To remain accessible to all students, student matters & student voice

More information...

Being an elected officer this year I think a number of issues need to be raised straight to the top such as increase security around campus. Having question time with the Vice chancellor will allow serious issues to be heard and acted on sooner rather than later and if not we can get a better understanding of why it can't be implemented.

I would like to continue to improve support/ provision for student well-being also for students with disability especially as mentors are becoming external. This will be done by continuing to have mental health ambassadors, working closely with student support and well-being and holding and being involved suitable forums such as the mental health forum, ASC forum and d/Deaf and hard of hearing forums to create actions for the university to make sure it is a more inclusive university.

Student engagement is very low with the SU therefore I plan to work with fellow officers to ensure we arrange a range of events at all campuses to ensure there is something to do after lectures.
