Are you looking for an employability enhancing volunteering opportunity?
Being a Student Trustee is a fantastic way to develop transferable skills whilst supporting the Students Union to help students get the most out of their university experience and achieve their full potential.
The Student Trustee role is critical to our success and it will be your responsibility to help ensure that the SU is acting in its members interest and you will aid the SU in achieving its strategic aims and objectives. There are three positions available each for a maximum term of 2 years. The Trustee Board meets approximately four times a year although additional Board meetings may be scheduled at the discretion of the chair, with advance notice.
The Student Trustee role involves
- Ensuring decisions of the Board of Trustees and its Committees take account of the needs and
- views of the SU members
- Ensuring the SU considers the needs and views of all student groups such as Postgraduate, International and part-time students
- Ensure effective communication between the SU and its members
- Working with Lay Trustees, Sabbatical OfficerTrustees, staff and volunteers in a constructive manner and for the greater good of the SU.
- Ensuring that the SU acts in accordance with its charitable objectives and remains true to its mission, vision and values.
- Ensuring that the SU complies with all relevant legislation and regulations, including relevant charity acts and education acts
- Ensuring that the SU does not undertake activities that put its financial stability, members or reputation at undue risk
- Participating fully in Board of Trustees meetings and joining one of the Trustee Board’s Committees if required
- Using your personal skills and experience to ensure the SU is well run and efficient.
You must be a current student at the University of Wolverhampton and have a minimum of 1 full academic year left on your course.
