To manage the Students’ Union’s commercial outlets ensuring they offer a safe, welcoming environment whilst delivering high quality services to customers. The role will include recruiting and managing staff, overseeing day to day operations, managing resources and ensuring high standards of health and safety in line with legislation.
- Effectively manage the commercial outlets within City Centre Campus (currently Bar & Juice Bar), including set up, close-down, cleaning, maintenance, managing daily operations, customer service, financial processing, and stock control.
- Lead and motivate a team of staff to deliver high quality customer focused services. This will include recruiting, training, developing and managing performance.
- Hold and maintain a personal Licence under the Licencing Act 2003.
- Encourage and promote a high standard of customer care ensuring customers are served in a polite, welcoming, and courteous manner.
- Assume responsibility for First Aid, Fire Safety, Food Hygiene, and other compliance areas relating to the Students’ Union’s commercial outlets.
- Review and develop operational processes to improve commercial outlet performance and maximise opportunities to generate revenue.
- Establish sales and performance targets and ensuring these are achieved.
- Manage the budget for the commercial outlets.
- Ensure appropriate records are kept and maintained in relation to the operation of the commercial outlets.
- Manage stock which will include ordering items and ensuring availability of menu items including catering provisions. Receive, check and sign for deliveries and ensure security of stock.
- Work with the Head of Marketing and Innovation to produce a marketing strategy to attract new customers.
- Work with the Head of Marketing and Innovation to develop a successful and inclusive entertainment programme.
- Managing music/ entertainment bookings utilising your planning, organizational and creative skills to support and deliver events, whilst complying with the Students’ Union brand and values.
- To suggest improvements to systems, processes used as well as the organisation of events based on experience, team, and student feedback.
- During holidays the bar may close, the post holder will be working with the Students’ Union to fulfil other duties, e.g., helping with Freshers Week preparation.
