Overview

Early Interventions support young people and adults aged 14-35 who are going through a first episode of psychosis, or who seem at risk of going through a first episode of psychosis. They offer a quick diagnosis of the first onset of a psychotic disorder, and provide appropriate treatment in its early stages.

There are various signs of psychosis, including the following: feeling people are watching you, confused thinking, seeing, feeling or hearing things that others cannot, avoiding contact with others, and acting suspiciously. First episode psychosis generally occurs among those aged 14 to 35, with those in their late teens and early twenties most at risk. The earlier someone receives support, the more likely they are to make a positive recovery.
