Building a brighter future together, one academic at a time
To all the students of the University of Wolverhampton,
My name is Riley Quinn, and I am studying my LLB Law degree. I have worked my way up from a course representative in my first year, to the school representative of the Business and Law schools in my second, and now I am striving for the position of Vice President of Academics.
I have always been a passionate learner and have felt strongly about academics throughout my 2 current years at the university. I have previously worked with fellow academics in the Law and Business schools to drive for positive and impactful change to learning. I feel the role of VP of academics would give me an opportunistic platform that would allow me to further develop and improve the academic systems of the university, as well as find and target problems surrounding academic life.
We are a community of passionate learners, united by our devotion and drive to achieve and succeed. Academics are a major part of all our lives while we study at university. I want to make it my priority to support and strengthen the current academic curriculums, as well as work hard to improve them. I will work hard to continuously listen to the student voice, as well as hold opportunities for students to speak about their opinions on academics and help shape relevant and responsive curriculums that will support the evolving needs of students.
I want to support and cultivate student success. We are called the 'University of Opportunity', and I believe this statement only deserves reinforcement. Academics are our collective path to greater opportunities in life. The university has been guiding students to their chosen path for 200 years, and I want to see more students than ever succeed on their path, as smoothly as possible.
There are 5 main objectives I want to work on and improve in my time as Vice President of Academics. These being;
-
Working to encourage students to step forwards for Course Rep and School Rep roles. Both are vital and beneficial roles to the university system, and I want everyone to see this. Without our course and school reps, student voice would not be as impactful as it could be.
Voting for me will give me the opportunity and ability to work on these objectives, and many more that arise throughout the year, on a university wide scale, and create positive change for you.
I am confident that I will be able to achieve my objectives because of my previous experience with the roles of School Representative for the Business and Law school. I used my time in these positions to look into student voice surrounding how they were assessed, and work with the relevant academic staff to change and improve courses, as well as encourage those within my school to step forwards as Course Reps and help aid me in my work to create positive change. Having the opportunity to work on this has made me want to drive for change on a higher and wider scale.
I want to invite you all to join me on my endeavour to achieve these targets. Let us work together to build a university where knowledge flourishes, innovation thrives, and students are empowered.
We may be students today, but we are the leaders of tomorrow.
Together, we can achieve academic excellence.
Yours Sincerely, Riley Quinn
