VICTOR EYO

Be Heard, Be Seen, Be Represented: Victor for VP Academic.

#PROJECT ACE.

VOTE VICTOR EYO FOR VP ACADEMIC.

Fellow Students of the University of Wolverhampton,

I am Victor Eyo, a postgraduate student pursuing a master's degree in public health. Beyond academics, I am a passionate football fan, an avid sci-fi reader, a life coach, and a culinary enthusiast. Today, I am excited to announce my candidacy for the position of Vice President Academic.

With a proven track record of leadership excellence, having served as President of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calabar, Nigeria; Founder of the Students' Undergraduate Medical Research Institute, Nigeria; and currently as School Representative for the School of Health and Society at the University of Wolverhampton, I am confident in my ability to provide impactful representation.

Being a student, I have shared your experiences and challenges at the University of Wolverhampton. As a school representative, I have listened to your concerns and understood your desire for a stronger voice, and I am committed to being that voice.

My agenda as Vice President Academic is simple yet effective. I present to you the "Project ACE" manifesto:

A - Activate: To ensure better student engagement, I plan to work tirelessly to make the Student Union truly representative of each one of us. One where every student is a major stakeholder, recognising themselves as a vital member. By fostering a sense of ownership and inclusivity, I aim to increase student participation and engagement in Union activities. To do this, I will plan for frequent and regular drop-ins on all campuses to let every student have a better understanding of the SU and how it works.

C - Connect: Every conduit, every facet, and every socket will be plugged in to ensure your voice and every other voice is heard by establishing a robust feedback mechanism, which will ensure that your academic concerns and suggestions are heard and addressed. By working closely with course representatives, school representatives, faculty members, and university administrators, I will strive to ensure your academic issues are given attention and addressed in the best way possible. In a bid to prevent such issues from arising in the first place, I will work with module leads to introduce the "CM or Correct Me Sessions" which will be regular informal hybrid meetings that will create a comfortable atmosphere that allows students to ask questions about what they have learned in the previous month but were too uncomfortable to ask in class: mainly questions considered "dumb" will be welcomed in these sessions.

E - Excel: The plan is to unlock our academic potential through innovative initiatives, such as inter-faculty quizzes and competitions. These initiatives will encourage academic excellence and foster a culture of healthy competition among students while creating a comfortable atmosphere for student interactions. Through the celebration of achievements and learning from setbacks in such competitions, we shall all grow together as an academic community having fun while at it. Academic societies will be supported to host events and programs, and encouraged to remain active throughout every semester.

We appreciate the work of personal tutors and academic coaches, indeed this has yielded profound success amongst students of the University of Wolverhampton and we intend to expand this further by initiating a student mentor-mentee program that will see students in senior levels mentor students directly below them, creating a two-way benefit system that allows the students develop their mentorship skills while students below have the opportunity to learn from their seniors having firsthand experience.

While there may be too much to put on paper, I plan to meet as many of you as possible to share my #projectACE blueprints with you. Let me assure you that my objectives are not only achievable but population-specific, as they have been draughted based on inputs from students like you and me. we all need a Voice; we all need a community, and I will be offering both.

Vote Victor Eyo as Vice President Academic, and together, let's create a more engaging and inclusive University experience.
