United We Howl: Lead With Collaboration, Choose Me!
Greeting, Wolves!
My name is Meena Chand (Madhuri Radhika Devi Dasi), and I am post graduate student pursuing Master’s in computer science program. I have lived in Nepal and India all my life, love music, coding, books/research hiking, adventures and spirituality.
I am running for the position of President of our Student’s Union with a single mission: to empower YOU. As a student ambassador and International Student Life Digital Ambassador I have already had the opportunity to meet and work with some amazing people creating unforgettable memories. Throughout my involvement, I've noted several areas needing development, including delayed communication in financial support, the need for vocational/game-changing skills etc. Leveraging my strong communication, technical, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities, I am fully dedicated to tackling these issues with the utmost seriousness.
I have significant leadership experience, in my previous role as President of Xavier International School/ College. And I have a deep understanding of the issues faced by the community. And strongly believe I am well-suited to serve as your voice.
My priorities:
1. Amplifying Your Voice
- Communication and Accessibility: I aim to streamline communication channels, hold regular open forums, and ensure direct access to representatives for all students.
- Encouraging Participation: I'll push for fair elections and team up with reps and society presidents to amplify diverse student voices.
- Championing Mental Wellbeing: I'll fight for better mental health resources, run workshops and support groups, and foster empathy and understanding in our community.
2. Advocating for Your Success:
- Academic Prominence: I will collaborate with faculty and administration to champion enhanced teaching methods, accessible learning resources, and foster a fair and supportive academic atmosphere.
- Financial Accessibility: I'll push for affordable housing, scholarships, and bursaries, ensuring everyone thrives at Wolverhampton.
- Readiness for Career: I'll organize career fairs, workshops, and mentorship programs to prepare you for life before and after graduation.
3. Building a Thriving Community:
- Honouring Diverseness: I'll organize inclusive events celebrating our diverse backgrounds, cultures and identities.
- Storing Your Interests: I'll forge partnerships with local businesses for internships, volunteering, career growth and more job opportunities.
- Improving College Life: I'll team up with the university to upgrade social spaces, sports facilities, and sustainability efforts for a vibrant and inclusive campus.
I'm passionate, collaborative, and driven by a desire to make a real difference. I have experience leading diverse teams, advocating for change, and working tirelessly to achieve goals. But most importantly, I believe in the power of collective action – yours and mine.
This manifesto is not just my promise; it's a collaborative commitment. I pledge to listen, learn, and act upon your needs and aspirations. Together, we can build a Wolverhampton that truly empowers, excites, and prepares you for the future you deserve.
