Unity for Diversity: BHOKE Kiranga for VP, Embracing every voice, empowering every Student!
Dear fellow students.
I am Bhoke Kiranga, a postgraduate international student of our distinguished campus from Walsall campus, and I am honoured to present my manifesto as I run for the position of Vice President, Diversity. As a dedicated and passionate student, I am deeply invested in fostering a harmonious and inclusive university community, my primary objectives revolve around Representation, Transparency, Accountability, Socialization, and creating a profound Sense of Belonging for every student.
I am running for this position because I would love to get a chance to work hand in hand with the school union to enrich our diverse community. My advocacy for representation not only ensures that every and each voice is heard but it also means every student will get actively involved in shaping the policies and embracing our selves indulging into the best life our university could offer! My genuine dedication to transparency guarantees open communication, building trust between the student body and the administration. Advocating for accountability, promising tangible outcomes in diversity initiatives. This goes as far as creating opportunities for cultural exchange, fostering unity and understanding among students.
Being an international student from a community that does not necessarily prioritise mental health, I understand the importance of mental wellbeing and the effects on our lives, I understand the importance of the sense of belonging and working towards improvements that reflect the diverse identities within our community. I understand the effect of drastic change and I am willing to create a major pathway especially to those from the underrepresented groups. As a course representative of the Faculty of Education Health and Wellbeing (FEHW), I have learnt of the passion and dedication put in by the student union. With previous leadership from the University if Dodoma I am willing to dedicate all efforts, skills and time in making sure we have an equitable and diverse representation.
Representation and Amplifying Every Voice
Genuine representation is the foundation our university. If elected, I commit to tirelessly advocate for diverse representation in decision-making bodies within the university. It is crucial that the voices of every student, irrespective of their background, are not only heard but actively included in shaping the direction of our academic journey. I will not only collaborate with student groups to celebrate and highlight the rich tapestry of our university community but I will also work towards establishing mechanisms that ensure representation from various student groups in key university committees and boards.
Celebrating Diversity is also a major element in my manifesto. I will make sure I collaborate with student organizations to celebrate and highlight the rich cultural, ethnic, and experiential diversity within our university, being part and parcel of major and minor elements in the culture celebrating major country milestones with every group. Through events, forums, and initiatives that showcase our community.
Accountability And Ensuring Tangible Outcomes
If entrusted with the role, I will work diligently to hold the university accountable for diversity goals and initiatives, ensuring that we move beyond rhetoric to tangible outcomes. I will collaborate with university stakeholders to establish measurable diversity metrics, regularly reporting progress and seeking feedback from the student body. Engaging students in the accountability process, encouraging their active participation in assessing the impact and effectiveness of diversity initiatives.
Socialisation: Genuine inclusivity and building a home from home.
The key component in breaking down barriers and building bridges between diverse communities is socialisation. I am committed to creating opportunities for students from all backgrounds to come together, fostering cultural exchange and understanding. Through diverse events that support and celebrate the uniqueness of our international and local students, creating spaces for interaction, dialogue and shared experiences.
I am also committed to mentorship programs to support new and underrepresented students, helping them navigate university life and establish meaningful connections. Such connections will bring a sense of belonging which is fundamental to the well-being and success of every student.
It is my greatest vision that together, we can build a community where every student feels seen, heard, and valued. I, Bhoke Kiranga, am dedicated to championing diversity and ensuring that the University of Wolverhampton becomes a beacon of inclusivity for all. My candidacy represents change, promising a more united and vibrant campus where diversity is not just celebrated but ingrained in our academic journey. Please vote for me and let's shape a future where diversity is not just celebrated but woven into the fabric of our academic journey.
