“ONE GOOD TURN DESERVE ANOTHER”

My name is Adeyemi Adebayo, a postgraduate student of public health. I am the current President for the Nigeria students’ society. I believe my experience in this role has given me an informed knowledge and experience in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and controlling students’ academic environment.  I am honored to present my manifesto for the position of Student Union’ President. I’m running to be your Student Union President because as a passionate advocate for positive change and a dedicated member of our academic community, I am committed to representing your interests, addressing your concerns, and working tirelessly to enhance the overall student experience. As a committed member of this great and prestigious University, I am convinced that I have the knowledge, skills, experience, and vision to lead our student union body to a higher level. However, my vision for our student community is one of unity, inclusivity, and progress. I believe that in togetherness we can create an environment where every student can be heard, valued, and empowered.   

My five points agenda.

Academic Excellence

  1. To actively contribute to the strategic direction and development of the University of Wolverhampton student union.
  2. To work with the faculty to ensure fair evaluation practices and timely feedback.
  3. To ensure that students can achieve academic excellence by removing barriers to good quality education.

Student well-being:

  1. To establish a mental health awareness campaign
  2. To expand counselling services and support networks
  3. To promote a healthy work-life balance through recreational and wellness programs.

Diversity and Inclusion:

  1. Fosters an inclusive campus culture that celebrates diversity.
  2. Ensures all diverse student groups are represented equally and fairly whilst feeling supported during their time at the university.

Student Engagement

  1. Enhance communication channels for student feedback.
  2. Create a channel for students to voice concerns and ideas.
  3. Organise regular town hall meetings to promote transparency and accountability.

Professional Development

  1. Facilitate workshops and seminars to enhance student’s skills.
  2. Establish partnership with local business for internship opportunities.

Implementation Plan:

Establish a Student Advisory Board

  1. Ensure a high profile is maintained with the membership to promote the work of the officer’s team and UWSU
  2. Support effective representation at strategic level through attending meetings with UOW to ensure student voice and perspective are represented.
  3. Regularly meet to discuss student concerns and proposed solution.

Collaborate with Faculty and Administration

  1. Open lines of communication for constructive dialogue
  2. Work together to address issues related to curriculum, facilities, and student services.

Enhance Extracurricular Activities in order to create More Opportunities

  1. Support and promote student clubs and organizations.
  2. Work with campus organisation to organise event that are inclusive and engage students.

I am committed to serving the student body, with dedication, integrity, and passion because I believe we can build a stronger, united, and thriving student community.
