Unleashing the Potential of Academic Progression: Together towards a Brighter Future

Greetings to all my fellow students at the University of Wolverhampton who are taking part in the Student Union Election. Your participation and voice matters greatly, and I applaud you for taking an active role in shaping our university community. I wish you all the best in making an informed decision and hope that you choose a candidate who best represents your interests and aspirations. Let's continue to strive for positive change and progress together!

I am Dharmendra Singh, a student of MSc Civil Engineering with a Professional Practice degree, I stand before you today for the post of Vice President Academic, eager and inspired to bring about meaningful change to our beloved university.

We all know that higher education is a cornerstone of personal growth and development, and our time at the University of Wolverhampton should be a journey filled with learning, discovery, and fulfilment. However, we also know that there are challenges and obstacles that can impede our progress and detract from our experience. And this encouraged me in running for Vice President Academic. I believe that together, we can work to overcome these challenges and create a university experience that is truly second to none.

My manifesto is based on the following commitments:

1. Student Empowerment: I will be a fierce advocate for student rights and representation. I will work closely with the university administration to ensure that students are consulted on key decisions that affect their education, and I will make sure that your voices are heard loud and clear.

2. Student Mentorship Program: To provide the students with a one-of-a-kind university experience, I will introduce a student mentorship program where students will be matched with industry professionals to provide hands-on experience in their field of study. I will also take initiation to create a student-led innovation centre, where students can collaborate and bring their ideas to life.

3. Quality Education: I am committed to improving the quality of teaching and learning at the University. I will work with staff and students to identify areas for improvement and to advocate for changes that will benefit us all.

4. Support for Success: I will work tirelessly to enhance the support and resources available to students. This includes academic support, welfare and well-being services, and access to funding and bursaries. I believe that every student deserves the support they need to succeed.

5. Assessment and Feedback Revolution: I will work to overhaul the assessment and feedback process at the University. I will fight to ensure that students receive timely and meaningful feedback on their progress, and I will advocate for assessments that are fair, transparent, and reflective of student ability.

6. Curriculum of the Future: I will work to ensure that students have a say in the development of the curriculum. I believe that a curriculum that is relevant, engaging, and prepares students for the challenges of the future is essential for success.

These are my commitments to you and myself. I believe that together, we can create a university experience that is truly world-class, and I would be honoured to have your support as we embark on this journey.

So, let's take the leap and create a university that we can be proud of. Let's make the University of Wolverhampton a place where every student can thrive, where every student can achieve their full potential, and where every student can create a brighter future for themselves and for the world.

Join me in this quest for a better university experience. Vote me for Vice President Academic - Unleashing the Potential of Academic Progression: Together towards a Brighter Future!
