Quality Student Engagement and Experience

Hi, I am Yetunde Adedipe, and l would like to be your SU Vice Academics! Our SU is brilliant in so many ways, but I believe it can be better. We need a fresh approach that offers a new and lasting solution to old problems, and I am confident that I can provide this. If elected, I will make the Students’ Union something students can continue to be proud of.

Representation

  • My aspiration is to ensure that students’ voices are heard and validated at committee and sub-committee meetings.
  • I want a relationship with the university which will recognise us for who we are- students paying for exceptional educational services. More so, I want a relationship with the university that fundamentally works and engages our disengaged students.

Accountability

  • If elected, I will be committed to hosting regular ‘drop-in sessions’ with students to allow anyone from our student body question what their union is doing for them. I will also be committing to regular meetings with the school reps, course reps, clubs, and societies to reflect the views, values and priorities of students from all sections of our vibrant student community here at the University of Wolverhampton.

Employability

  • Our student body is diverse, dynamic, and full of talents, and there presently isn’t much done in rewarding excellent academic performance. I will establish a robust reward system that recognises students hard work and outstanding academic performance and helps them progress in their chosen fields.
  • Part of every students’ goal is to become employable after their studies, and l will help build more bridges between the industry and academia to ensure more students get employment opportunities and contribute meaningfully through their diverse skillsets developed during their time at the university of Wolverhampton.
  • Part of my goal is to see a student body that would not only be employable, but will also be employers of labour. In that regard, I will work with the university to ensure the majority of our students are equipped with entrepreneurial skills to enable them to create their own business upon graduation.

Improved Students’ Welfare and Engagement

  • This role is actually about the students , their education and their welfare. I will work with the university to ensure that every student has access to the requisite facilities needed to support their education and to improve their learning experience..
  • I will lobby the university to ensure students get access to free scanning and printing across all the university facilities.
  • Early access to timetable is essential in enabling students to plan a head of the academic year. I will ensure students get access to their timetables as well as get adequate support they need to navigate the tools necessary for their learning such as converse my WLV etc before the commencement of the academic year.
  • Sensitising students about academic misconduct and  raising awareness about academic support students can leverage such as Skills for Learning, Turnitin, etc  would be a priority when elected.

If there is something you want to see improved that is not included in the manifesto, do get in touch because I am here for YOU.
