MISS DEE STOUTE

What experience do you have that will help you in this role?

I am Chair of governors at a school and I have been Course rep for the last 2 years. The knowledge and experience I have gained from both of these roles including attending council  meetings has given me a good understanding of the policies and procedures needed to carry out this role successfully.

What made you want to nominate yourself for this position?

Having been course rep for the last 2 years, I feel that I have made a positive contribution in identifying any student's needs and also in helping my fellow students be heard  by raising any issues that may arise at the relevant committee meetings.

What do you think is the biggest issue students face in your faculty and how would you try to help resolve it?

In speaking to students within the faculty, not having their issues heard or raised at committee meetings is a big issue. I intend to either create an Education Society group or use social media as a way for all course reps and students within the faculty to discuss any issues arising.

Describe a time you created change or had a positive impact that benefited other people.

As course rep I raised the issue of having longer lectures on numerous occasions, as the students felt 2 hours were not enough to gain the information they needed for their assignments. This year the lectures for our group are now 3 hours and the students are a lot happier.
