MR STEPHEN SIMKINS

What experience do you have that will help you in this role?

As a mature student and a Wolverhampton City Councillor, I have 16 years of problem solving and negotiations will large and small organisations to get the very best results for everyone. I have good communication skills to the general public and always willing to go the extra mile to help.

What made you want to nominate yourself for this position?

As a resident of Wolverhampton on many levels I have an understanding what is good for all within the City and I like think I could with others champion the best for the University of Wolverhampton and the very best of standards for all students if given the chance.

What do you think is the biggest issue students face in your faculty and how would you try to help resolve it?

I have thought that all Students in FoSS would better be supported by additional support in each discipline to then achieve better results, this would benefit the students direct and the reputation of the University. I would bring Students and Lectures together strengthening the faculty.

Describe a time you created change or had a positive impact that benefited other people.

Recently I was asked to talk to level 4 students to take up the role of course reps in History and War Studies after two slots I managed to get 4 course reps singed up by asking them to take ownership of their course and the University.
