MISS LATOYA GOLDBOURNE

What experience do you have that will help you in this role?

In relation to this role, I have both transferable and academic skills to help support this role. For example, I have the ability to communicate effectively with others as well as working as part of a team. However, I am a caring and supportive individual when it comes to looking out for my peers.

What made you want to nominate yourself for this position?

I am very passionate about this role, the reason for this is students tend to have issues while attending university, these individuals might be not confident enough to voice their views regarding issues. I would like to be the students advocate as well as improving their experience.

What do you think is the biggest issue students face in your faculty and how would you try to help resolve it?

Communication is the biggest issue I have come across. I would have a clear and consistent communication approach in place to facilitate staff and students, by implemented monthly newsletter and utilising social media platforms as forums to discuss course issues or general support for students.

Describe a time you created change or had a positive impact that benefited other people.

The module lecture did not identify that the student had problems understanding the information due her first language was not English. I raise the issue to the module leader who did not address the matter, I then had to take the matter to someone higher than the lecture.
