Elections

Wolves SU is proud to be a democratic organisation that puts students at the heart of everything it does. Wolves SU is run by students, for students and every year all Wolverhampton University students have the opportunity to either become one of or vote for one of the representative positions available.

Our elections typically run in the Spring but there's always something happening! Have a look below to see if we are running any election events.

What is a 'Sabbatical Officer'?

Sabbatical Officers (also known as 'Sabbs' or 'Officers') are full-time, paid student leaders who represent Wolverhampton students and help shape the future of university life. There are four roles — President, Vice President Academic, Vice President Diversity and Vice President Community — each focusing on a different part of the student experience. You can take on a sabbatical role at the end of your studies or take a year out from your course to do it.

These roles are open to all students, including international students. If you’re on a Student Visa, don’t worry — the University and Students’ Union will help you extend it so you can take part. It’s a brilliant opportunity to get paid to make real change, meet amazing people and build skills that will shape your future. If you want to make a difference and leave your mark on Wolverhampton, this is your chance.

There are 4 Officer roles up for grabs...

President     VP Academic

VP Community     VP Diversity

Why should you run?

We want students from all backgrounds, courses and campuses to see themselves as future leaders. You don’t need to have loads of experience — just passion, ideas, and the drive to make things better for other students. Here’s why we think you should give it a go:

  1. Your voice matters – You know what students are really thinking and feeling, and that insight is powerful.

  2. You can make real change – From academic improvements to wellbeing and community, your ideas can shape how the University works.

  3. You’ll grow your confidence – Learn to lead, speak up, and work with people at every level of the University.

  4. You’ll gain amazing experience – Paid, full-time leadership that looks incredible on your CV and gives you skills for any future career.

  5. You’ll meet brilliant people – From students and staff to local and national partners — your network will grow massively.

  6. You’ll leave your mark – Help make Wolverhampton more inclusive, supportive and student-led for years to come.

We believe anyone can be a great leader and we’re here to support you every step of the way. So if you’ve ever thought, “Someone should do something about that…” maybe that someone is you!
