STech School Rep (Undergraduate Eng): Thipun Lalaka De Mel

Hi, my name is Thipun and I am thrilled to be standing this academic yearÖ!!! 

I have been actively involved in my previous university Students’ Union while enjoying my studies as an engineering student for two years. I was International students Vice President & Liaison committee president at INTI International University, Malaysia. I have been able to experience a wide range of activities and interact with different people during my previous roles. I feel confident that I can continue the hard work for you as STech school representative at the University of Wolverhampton. 

I believe studying as an engineering student will help me understand your needs, and as I already possess an IT degree I believe I will be very suitable in representing you for the STech School in the coming year.

As an international student I am aware that there is great number of fellow internationals within my school. This can work to my benefit as I believe I can relate very well to the needs and problems of my fellow international students.

• Improve the channels of communication and information between you and school.

• Discuss your academic issues and needs with the school.

• Raise your problems to the school board and student council.

• Ensure you receive all necessary care and advice as an engineering student.

• Raise more awareness of work placements within the industry.

• Lobby the school, which students needs come first at the decision making.
