Collective Vision

Collective Vision is where students can see and vote on the live campaigns your Students’ Union is working on and suggest new campaign ideas that could improve student life in your course, campus, community, or student experience.
The Students' Union will review your idea and determine the best next step, which may include gathering feedback, supporting an existing campaign, raising it with the Officer team or University, or developing it into a new campaign.

Not every idea can be taken forward even if it gets a lot of votes, but we want to be clear about the outcome and reasoning. You can also raise issues through your Officer team, Course Reps, Community Organiser and Faculty reps.

If you see an idea you would like to know more about, click the title and you will be given more details on the idea.

Protect Student Data and Intellectual Property Rights

    Current
Protect Student Data and Intellectual Property Rights The rapid growth of AI has created exciting opportunities, but it has also raised important questions about who owns and controls our work and personal data. More than ever, universities rely on third-party software providers to support learning, assessment, and academic integrity. While these tools can be valuable, students should not lose control of their intellectual property or personal data simply because they are required to use them. Recent discussions around Turnitin's AI policies brought these concerns into the spotlight, but this is about much more than one company or one platform. It is about protecting students now and, in the future, regardless of which technologies the University chooses to use. Students should not have to give up rights over their work or personal data to access their education. The University of Wolverhampton has an opportunity to take a clear position on consent, transparency, and student ownership by putting safeguards in place before these issues become even more widespread. Academic integrity, innovation, and technological progress should not come at the expense of privacy, intellectual property, or informed consent. We believe the University can embrace new technologies while still protecting students' rights. We believe the University of Wolverhampton should: 1. Guarantee that student work will not be used to train, develop, or improve AI systems without explicit opt-in consent. 2. Adopt a university-wide Student AI and Data Rights Policy based on transparency, privacy, and informed consent. 3. Require all third-party providers to clearly disclose how student data and academic work are stored, shared, and used. 4. Prioritise technologies that respect student intellectual property rights and minimise unnecessary data collection. 5. Include student representatives in decisions relating to AI technologies and student data.

Not every idea can be progressed, but students deserve to know why.
This section includes ideas that did not meet the threshold, could not be achieved, or were not realistic at the time. Where possible, the Students’ Union will explain why, such as cost, practical barriers, limited demand, policy restrictions, or where the idea sits outside the Union’s influence.
