About the M.E.N.S Society
The M.E.N.S. Society is a men-only, student-led community created to encourage men to support men. Built by men and championed by mothers, we aim to create a space where men can speak openly, feel valued and know that they do not have to carry everything alone. M.E.N.S represents Mental Health, Expression, Navigation, and Men Support Men.
Our mission is simple: Empowering men to take control of their mental health and well-being, express themselves, and navigate life.
We believe that men should be able to talk about what they are experiencing without judgement, shame or pressure to simply “get on with it.” Too often, men can feel the need to mask, suppress what they are feeling or hide their struggles, delaying conversations and support until things become overwhelming. We want to challenge that silence by encouraging men to talk, connect, recognise when they are struggling, take responsibility for their mental health and well-being, take action and seek support when they need it. And above all, never be afraid to be vulnerable. Your emotions are real. Your self-worth is real. Your life matters. You matter.
The need for this conversation is clear. Around three-quarters of suicide deaths in England and Wales are male, while England’s first Men’s Health Strategy recognises that men can be less likely to seek help and more likely to suffer in silence. (Office for National Statistics)
These are not simply statistics. They represent fathers, sons, brothers, partners, friends and men whose lives matter.
Stop masking. Start talking. Don't suffer in silence.
Take control. Support one another. Join the M.E.N.S. Society.
