Mental Health

Hi everyone,

Under the current pandemic restrictions, I know some of you will be struggling with your mental health. I just wanted to let you know you are not alone and that there are support services in place to help (if you feel you would benefit from support please contact me on stephanie.brady@wlv.ac.uk and I will provide you with details of the support currently available).

I myself have had issues during the lockdowns so here are my top tips to overcome them.

  1. Ask for help. There is no shame in it.
  2. Try and keep as much of your routine as possible (if you can't, look for things you can do instead)
  3. Exercise (for the body and brain!). Try and do a small amount of physical and mental exercise (not university-related) daily. I do yoga most days and have decided to take up knitting as well as model painting.
  4. Keep in touch with friends and family as much as possible. We have so much technology at our fingertips. I am aware chatting/meeting via an online platform is not the same as seeing someone in person but .....
  5. This will not last forever. There is light at the end of the tunnel. The university is working incredibly hard to get us back on campus as soon as it is safe to do so.

I look forward to seeing you all back on campus when the time comes :-) Stay safe
