Weekly Update 02/03/2021

Hey Folks!

Hope you're all doing well. Can't believe it's March already! At least the winter is now over (officially anyway!) and we got to enjoy what was hopefully a sneak preview of the future weather this weekend just gone. I went for a nice long walk in my local park and golf course which has a cross country running trail. Didn't get too much of a chance to work on my tan unfortunately, but it was nice to enjoy the fresh air and clear my head. Something which I would definitely reccomend if you are feeling a bit down and stuck in. It can do the body and mind wonders just getting out of the house even for 10 minutes to get the legs moving and get some fresh air.

I have been working again today and wanted to provide you all with a quick update:

  • I have read through and checked my latest emails regarding any student issues and I am now all caught up on these.

  • I have read through the latest Coronavirus updates from the University ready to pass this information onto students as and where necessary.

  • I have checked through the Microsoft Teams chat channel for any messages relating to student issues. I am now all caught up on this. I have also posted a message on here making Course Reps. Aware that elections will soon be opening. I have posted a link to the Union’s election page and requested that they push this out to students making them aware. If you would like more information about elections, please see this link: https://www.wolvesunion.org/vote/

  • I have contacted some of the various Student WhatsApp groups I am a member of to make students aware that I am working today and available to assist if anyone has any issues or concerns. I have heard nothing as of yet and have not been made aware of any issues.

  • I have contacted the Course Rep. WhatsApp group that I am in to check in with the Reps and see if there is anything I can help with.

  • I have spoken to a student who has been struggling with an assignment. I have advised them to contact their module tutor via e-mail with any questions. I have also mentioned that they can probably arrange for a phone/video call with them if this is easier. I have offered further assistance if required.

  • I have checked in with a student I have helped previously to see if they are getting on okay. They are now doing well I am pleased to report. I have advised them should they require any further assistance to give us a shout and get into contact so I can provide support.

  • I have checked in with a fellow School Rep. to see if she needs any assistance with student engagement. Recently I gave them some suggestions which they are now looking at, namely setting up a Course Rep WhatsApp Group.

  • I have updated my School Rep. Log.

  • I have updated my blog.

And that's it for today's update! If you need to contact me or just want to reach out for a chat, my contact e-mail is: Sydney.Cooper@wlv.ac.uk.

Stay safe everyone and take care!

Kind Regards,

Syd
