Welcome from the Students’ Union Advice Centre (ARC)!

We’re so excited to welcome you to campus and to your new community at the Student Union. Whether you're here to meet new friends, join a society, attend events, find a cozy spot to study in our den/café area, or wind down and have fun with a drink in our luna lounge bar this is your space to connect, grow, and thrive. We're here to support your journey every step of the way.

We’ve put together a guide to help you settle into university life, whether you’re coming from round the corner or from across the globe, the information and tips below should give you everything you need to get started on your new journey.

Before you arrive

  • If you are a home student, make sure your funding is in place – you will need to allow a minimum of 6-8 weeks for this application to be processed. If you’re having any issues, please look at our finance advice page.
  • If you are an international student, you should have the amount to cover your tuition and living costs before you arrive in the UK. For more information see here: International Fees - University of Wolverhampton.
  • Ensure you have secured somewhere to live, whether that be university halls, external university accommodation providers, or private rented accommodation. For useful tips and guidance on what to look for and be wary of when looking for private accommodation, please see our guide.
  • Do you have a disability? Have you spoken with the university’s Accessibility, disability and inclusion team? You can register with this team to access support.
  • Are you a recent care leaver? Are you an estranged student? For support, please find further details here: Support for Care Experienced and Estranged Students.
  • Register with a local GP and Dentist Practice. Please be aware that if you have moved from a different area, you will need to register yourself with a local practice to be able to access a GP and dentist within Wolverhampton, for more information on this, see here: Getting medical care as a student - NHS.
  • Local transport links: Local area maps | Transport for West Midlands.
  • If you are going to be travelling by bus, you can get a discount as a university student but you will need to prove you are a student, see these links for more information: Discounts for students | NX Bus West Midlands.
  • If you are travelling by train, as a university student you can get a discount on your journey via a 16-25 railcard. This also applies if you are a mature student, you can apply for the same railcard but will need to fill in a mature student application form.

When you arrive – your first week

Enrolment
All Students are required to enrol at the start of every academic year. The enrolment task is available on E;vision.

  • You will need to log on to E;vision using your student number and the password you created when you created your IT account.
  • Click into the enrolment section.
  • At this point you may have to upload your ID image which will be the image that will be used on your student ID card when it is generated.
  • Then click on Select button at the bottom of the screen to proceed with the task. If you are a NEW student, once all the tasks have turned green, a Boarding Pass will be generated for you.
  • The next step is to then visit the University to show a form of ID (e.g. passport or driving licence) as part of your ID Check.
  • After your ID check is completed, your status should change from “Not Enrolled” to “Current”. If you experience any problems with the enrolment task, we suggest that you visit the ASK@WLV team.
