My name is Matthew Smith and I am a current student with both a mental health condition and learning disability. I would really like to run for this position as I have witnessed myself some issues with support for students with disabilities.
firstly, I would like to increase the support from the Student Enabling Centre (SEC) at all campuses so more communication between these students and the SEC can occur and also so students are not just travelling to city campus to receive the support they deserve.
seceondly, SEC provide free software for all students with a disability. However, the software is only Windows capatable and therefor MAC users are left disadvantaged.
finally I would also like to push for more societies for students with disabilities to enable these students to get to know each other and give each other friendly advice and support.
As a Students with Disability rep I believe that your voice is important and should be heard, everyone deserves to be treated equally!
