I am Yashiru Aboubakar, a third year student currently studying Politics and History. I believe I am the right candidate to represent the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) students in our university being one myself. With your votes, I am the right individual in which your voice is heard and your problems are solved in the Student Union.

As an individual I believe in fairness and equality in all areas of life, and I seek to raise awareness of issues affecting BME students around the university campuses including Walsall and Telford also to improve diversity. One of my objectives if elected is to promote different cultures and integration among different ethnic groups in the university.

One of my goals is to push the union to have a delegated member of staff each week, who will attend to BME students in all the various campuses to resolve issues they might have relating to university or other aspects that might affect their studies. My aim is to represent and build a strong community among all BME students, not just blacks and Asians but other ethnic minority groups around the University.

I am genuinely passionate about increasing the university's ethnic diversity, and encouraging and supporting students from ethnic minority groups to reach for the stars. I would also seek to find new and innovative ways to support and inspire current BME students to embrace all of the opportunities available to them at Wolverhampton University and beyond.
