Jody Lundy

My name is Jody. I’m a comics-crazed, feminist-egalitarian final year Illustration student and current President of the Illustration Society. Between mountains of drawing and the organisation of events and meetings, I indulge in learning about issues of gender as an active member of multiple campaigns which promote gender equality; sometimes I’ll go for a distance run, jump into discussions, or simply take part in an activity.

Both on and off campus, gender is of increasing importance in society today. We are forever bombarded with fanciful suggestions of what gender should or should not mean to us depending on our beliefs, cultures or otherwise, and resultantly what attributes should or should not apply to us as human beings. Even in 2014 gender aids in defining a person's worth. No, seriously.

So let's see if we can find a solution.

I stand beside the universal right to liberty, protection and education of both men and women and aim to help tackle any barricades which restrict our self-defining female students within the university and beyond.

Electing me will provide a platform for students who may feel voiceless, aiding them to be counted as equals amongst their peers in any and all walks of life. Due to the necessity of this role in the modern world, I refuse to be an idle member of your Students’ Union council; I will be your sword, your shield and your advocate for personal freedom… minus the epic battles in star-spangled hotpants. That's Wonder Woman's job.
