First Aid is a crucial life saving skill which everyone should have a basic understanding of it.

There is a St John's Ambulance Society on Campus teaching first aid to students and no body is attending - possibly because they don't know about.

First Aid could help students save lives on a night out or when they're out with friends both on campus and back home.

That's why I feel it needs to be prompted more especially at City Campus.

First Aid needs to be pushed more around campus

6:06pm on 5 May 19 Hi Victoria - the St Johns Ambulance society will be finishing in a couple of week for the end of the Semester and the Summer holidays - we currently meet on a Friday in the SU Boardroom 13 - 14.30. Our last meeting is the 17th May - you more than welcome to join. But hopefully, we look forward to seeing at the Freshers Fayre in September, where we have a new year to teach everyone life-saving skills :)

3:15pm on 29 Apr 19 This needs to be pushed more, especially in light of the awful triple stabbing that happened nearby the other day!

9:26am on 28 Apr 19 Hi Iman, Technically you can plug a bullet hole with anything - if you have a tampon to hand and its new / clean sure use it - as long as you stop the bleeding - but try to use somthing else first e.g. a bandage or clingfilm if you have this to hand

9:42pm on 23 Apr 19 Hi Phoebe - Yes the St John Ambulance society does offer first aid training - all the basics and more - unfortunately as Hakon says we can not offer a qualification unless you complete our course (which is very fun for LINKS members) - but we offer similar things. We teach all the relevant first aid skills in the SU weekly. If you are interested just look at our page and don’t hesitate to get in contact ??

1:14pm on 22 Apr 19 Actually Phoebe the St John Ambulance society provides the skills, it just can't give you the accreditation unless you volunteer for them. You do still get to learn the skills that will enable you to help in an emergency.

11:06am on 22 Apr 19 The St John's Ambulance society doesn't even offer first aid training! I agree, there should be free/subsidised first aid training available on campus. Not only could it save lives, but it improves employability, as first aid certificates are highly sought after by employers.
