Having used The Venue in the Wolverhampton Campus on two occasions in the previous 4 months for live music events, seeing the potential that this room has to offer firsthand as a musician and sound technician myself, it is clear that such an event would be possible and successful. The attendance of these events also demonstrates that students in Wolverhampton would be incredibly receptive to such an idea as transport makes it often incredibly difficult or even impossible for most of them to attend in Walsall.

It is also clear that bands and musicians would be more than willing to play such events. The performers are there, the audience are there, the location and sound system are there - there is no reason why this could not be done.

Bring 'SU Live' to the Wolverhampton Campus

This Idea for Change opened on 21 Jan 2019 and closed on 4 Feb 2019.

19 students voted on this Idea, giving a score of +32 (48).

  • 13 May 2019: Unfortunately, the SU is undergoing restructure and the roles of Campaigns Developer and the Student Groups Advisor will no longer be in place come 17 May 2019; this is despite undertaking work on a pilot study to improve events and bar provision, combining several Ideas for Change. This pilot was subsequently quashed by members of senior management. As such, those primarily involved in chasing and implementing this Idea will no longer be working here. We hope to pass this Idea along to another member of the Student Change team who will be able to take this Idea forwards and action it. We hope to provide further updates by 3 June 2019.
  • 11 Aug 2019: This Idea has been rolled-over into Create Change 2019/20. We will continue to work on this Idea in the next academic year.
    • Under the new scoring mechanic, the revised score for this Idea is 48.
