Explanation

I have tried, myself to try and entice people into coming to these kinds of clubs, and have also tried to set up a running society however without any useful resources or advertisements, my attempts have been unfruitful.

Status

I would like more fitness ideas and clubs to be recognised

This Idea for Change as passed to the Student Change team for action:

  • 08 May 2019: The Student Change team has spoken with our Well@Wolves Coordinator who explained that due to a low uptake, the Gym Buddies,  Couch2 5K run and YMCA fitness club will no longer be running next year, and as such unless societies deliver anything, the SU does not have the ability to deliver sport activities. However, WLV Gym have social sporting events on throughout the year and we will work to promote these events as they arise. Communications are ongoing with student consultation on a specific sporting event that may be able to take place over the summer and extend into the new academic year. We hope to provide further updates by 29 May 2019.
  • 10 Aug 2019: This Student Idea has expired as it did not meet the roll-over threshold for being worked on during the next academic year. This Idea had scored less than 30, and has not passed to the next academic year. #wolveschange

5:27pm on 15 Nov 18 A few years back I set up a society aimed at adaptive sports, to cater for all people including those with disabilities and impairments. Unfortunately there was no engagement either

10:47am on 7 Nov 18 It would be good to get more advertisement on fitness clubs. Would also be good to get more of a variety going that's as intensive as the participant makes it such as zumba. That way if people are put off by the idea of running or high intensity exercises they can still join in with other things.
