The Practical Wildlife Conservation Society

The aims of this society are as follows:

  • To conserve biodiversity in the West-midlands and surrounding areas

  • To produce opportunities for students to gain practical skills they can use in future career prospects

  • To further people's knowledge in animals, wildlife and their environments.

We run a variety of events, including but not limited to:

  • Butterfly identification and surveys

  • Small mammal trapping and identification

  • Reptile surveys

  • Bird surveys

  • Woodland management

  • Invasive plant species management

  • Remote camera monitoring of wildlife

Upcoming events:

9th and 16th of December. Work Party at West Park.

We will be working with the rangers at West Park to enhance an environmental area on site for the use of public and animals. It is a great way to gain more skills in regards to tool use/practical conservation. We could be doing anything from hazel coppicing to building a dead hedge. Free event, anyone is welcome.

11th of December. Tree planting at Pendeford Mill nature reserve.

We will be spending the afternoon planting trees across areas of the reserve. The event is free for members and £1 for non-members.

For information on upcoming events, please join our facebook group as this is where we share the details of our events.
