Candidate Checklist

As a candidate there are a few deadlines and bits of information you need to know. Firstyl, nominations will close on the 10th March but the paperwork deadline isn't till a week later on the 17th. This is due to a Candidate day we’ll be holding on Saturday 11th March which will cover the application process, give campaigning tips and run through the code of conduct candidates have to adhere to as well as other interactive sessions. If you are standing for a position and cannot make the Candidate day we will be available on the week commencing 13th March leading up to the deadline to answer questions and provide individual sessions.

Nomination check list (Friday 10th March):

  • Nominate yourself online on the Wolves Union election pages using the elections app at the bottom of the page
  • Provide 1 nominator; that could be a friend or classmate
  • Remember to submit the nomination before 5pm on Friday 10th March

If you are struggling with the process please get in touch with a staff member before the deadline so we can add you manually.

Paperwork checklist (Friday 17th March):

  • Candidate question sheets (there are specific versions for the different positions which you can download here)
  • Signed Code of Conduct (download here)
  • Full-time officer candidates will also be expected to attend a meeting with an SU staff member which should be organised before the deadline

Please notify a member of staff if something goes wrong that is out of your control which may result in you missing the deadline; if you do miss the deadline without us being aware of the issue you may be automatically withdrawn from the election.

Once your application has begun please check you inbox regularly to ensure you don’t miss any important announcements that could affect your candidateship. If you have any questions you can email me at t.swainson@wlv.ac.uk. This can be around the positions, the nomination process or the elections as a whole. Our top priority is to ensure you feel guided and supported throughout the whole process.
