As school reps we have been busy meeting with the university teams to discuss the concerns and give feedback from students, I’m already feeling like 2021 is much more organised by the university and that the situation although not ideal is currently being well managed. Communication is regular and clear, and the university are very keen to help the student experience where possible. To all the health students facing uncertainties at the moment I really feel your pain however I know plenty of work is underway to ensure students remain in or return to placement at the earliest opportunity.

Please remember we are here to support you, if we can’t help directly, we will signpost you appropriately

Take care and stay safe.

So, the past 2 weeks have seen a large amount of uncertainty and anxiety for many students, Course reps have been working hard having virtual meetings and discussions with the university to keep feedback flowing.

What has become apparent is there does seem to be a lack of understanding towards staff, yes, they are in paid roles, but no amount of planning would ever prepare them for an event like Covid-19 and the impact it is having. Please remember staff have families, from the institute of health many are being pulled back into practice to support the efforts of the NHS. Staff are also working tirelessly to ensure students get to complete their degrees, yes, the path has changed, and parts of courses are being re-written to ensure we all graduate with a quality degree. Morale is low at the moment and targeting this towards staff using petitions, requesting refunds and negativity on social media will only make their efforts feel pointless.

I personally and I know many will share this opinion applaud the university and all the staff for the speed in which efforts are being made to get studies back on track.

<a10:updated>2020-04-02T14:42:40+01:00</a10:updated>

Well this was all unexpected

Good afternoon,

As you are all aware things have changed drastically over the past few weeks and i apprecate that this is causing much concern and anxiety for students. Please be assured that the univesrity is doing all it can to get plans in place to minimise disruption, bear in mind the rule book for this situation does not exist it is being wrote day by day. The staff have our best interests at hand and please please send me your concerns so i can ensure they are adressed and fedback to the approipate department.

The main request at a moment is be patient.

School reps are still working from home and will continue to assist wherever we can.

Keep safe guys
