Athletic Union Sports Trials

Below are details of trials for each of the sports that offer competitive opportunities either in league competitions or national competitions.

Trials can be attended by anyone of any ability. For further information about each of the sports regular training times, go to the Sports Club pages.

The majority of sports trials are held at Walsall Campus. You can get to Walsall Campus from Telford, City and Compton on the free University Inter-site bus service.

Badminton (Men's)

Trials for the BUSA Team will be held on the following dates:

Wed 19 Sept, City Campus Sports Hall, 1-3pm

Mon 24 Sept, City Campus Sports Hall, 7-9pm

Wed 26 Sept, City Campus Sports Hall, 1-3pm

Dates for trials for the BUSA National Championships are to be decided. If you are interested in representing the University at this competition, contact the Athletic Union.

Trials for the BUSA & National League Team will be held on the following dates:

Climbing

If you are a good standard climber and wish to be considered to represent the University at the BUSA National Championships then get in touch with the Athletic Union.

Cricket (Men's)

Trials for the Men's Cricket team will be held at the start of Semester 2 in February. We run one team in the BUSA League competition with fixtures on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons.

A trials date for the BUSA Fencing National Championships are to be decided.

Football (Men's)

We run two Men's Football teams which compete in the BUSA Leagues on Wednesday afternoons. If you wish to be considered for selection, there are a number of opportunities for trials:

Wed 19 Sept, Walsall Campus Astro, 3-5pm
Thur 20 Sept, City Campus - Aldersley Stadium, 2-4pm (minibuses leave MA Block, Wulfruna Street at 1pm to get to this venue)

Mon 24 Sept, Walsall Campus Astro, 8-10pm
Wed 26 Sept, Walsall Campus Astro, 3-5pm
Thurs 27 Sept, City Campus - Aldersley Stadium, 2-4pm (minibuses leave MA Block, Wulfruna Street at 1pm to get to this venue)

Trials will be held for students to be selected for two National events: BUSA Long Course Championships & BUSA Short Course Championships. Date to be decided.

We run one Men's Volleyball team which competes in the West Midlands Volleyball League, competing on evenings and weekends. If you would like to get involved in the team, come along to a training night:
