This event, held at Walsall Campus on Wednesday 11th May was attended by over 100 people. Our special guests to present the awards were Prof. Craig Mahoney (Dean SSPAL) and Mike Chamberlain (Director of Sport).

  • Terri Dunning (Swimming - swims for GB & won gold at the BUSA National Championships for the 100m Fly by breaking the championship record in the heats and finals)
  • Jonathan Turner (Trampolining - won bronze at the BUSA National Championships)
  • Neil Raybone (Pool - achieved a place in the semi-finals at the BUSA National Championships)

  • Simon Fisher (Women's Basketball) - led the Women's Squad to promotion two years running, now in BUSA Premier League for 2005-06

Winner:

  • Basketball Club - Women won their leage & gained promotion into the BUSA Premier League for 2005-06 season. Men's BUSA team finished 3rd in the league and Men's National League team finished 4th in the league after their first year in Division 3.

 

 

Sports Woman of the Year

  • Terri Dunning (Swimming)

Winner:

  • Terri Dunning (Swimming) - smashed the BUSA Long Course Championship record for 100m Fly twice to take the gold medal. Swims for GB & the City of Birmingham.

 

 

Sports Man of the Year

  • Jonathan Turner (Trampolining)
  • Brian Jenkins (Triathlon)
  • Albert Foresythe (Judo, Track & Field, Karate)

Winner:

  • Albert Foresythe (Judo, Track & Field, Karate) - a great all rounder, representing the university at national championships in all these sports. Took a regional gold medal at the Judo championships and placed 14th in the Shot at BUSA Athletics championships.
