The University charges two levels of fee: the lower 'home' fee and the higher 'overseas' fee. Certain students who originate from outside of the UK might be able to pay the lower home rate of fees and some of these might be able to obtain some or all of the financial support that UK students receive. N.B. most international students will NOT be able to pay home rate fees or get any financial support. Students who do qualify for either, are the exception, rather than the rule. If you in the UK on a student visa, you will pay overseas rate fees and will not be able to get financial support.
EU Students
EU students* will be charged the home rate and may apply to the DIUS for fee support. click here
to go the student support website.
Students from the new member states are entitled to the same support as other EU students. Even if you began your course before your home country was part of the EU and paid your own fees, you may now apply to the DIUS EU team for fee support.
*If you come from certain territories of EU countries, you may not qualify as part of the EU for the purposes of fee assessments and fee support.
There are certain groups of EU/EEA and Swiss national or Turkish students who may be able to pay home rate fees and get maintenance as well as fee support. These are groups such as those who are already living or working in the UK for a certain length of time when they start their course, or whose parents have lived and worked here.

Non-EU Students
If you are from outside of the EU, you will probably have to pay overseas rate fees unless you fit into one of the categories below.
N.B. being charged home rate fees does not mean that you will be eligible for fee and maintenance support.
If you are an Asylum Seeker, you will not be eligible for fee support and must raise the money yourself. This is very difficult as you do not have the right to work. You will need to look to your family/church/community group/charity for assistance.
Students from outside of the EU who may be able to get fee and maintenance support are as follows:
· People who have been granted exceptional leave to remain (or their family) and have been in the UK for three years prior the start of their course and the main purpose of their stay in the UK was not for study.
If you think that you might be eligible to pay home rate fees then you will need to ask the University Admissions Department to do a fee assessment. Once it is established that you are eligible to pay home rate fees, if you think you might be able to get fee and maintenance support click here
.
If you have any questions about tuition fees and student support, you can contact the Advice and Support Centre (see contacts page) .
