A rent book or receipt is very important for protecting yourself as a tenant.
Rent books are inexpensive and available from all good stationers. If you pay your rent weekly, you are required by law to have a rent book.
To avoid disputes, it is a good idea to pay your rent by cheque as opposed to cash.
Remember - do not hand any money over to a landlord unless you obtain a signed receipt!
