The Students' Union Advice & Support Centre exists to support students independently of the University. We target our support to specifically meet the needs of our students by offering a confidential and impartial service.
We offer general advice and undertake specialist advice work in fields as diverse as housing, academic, money and debt advice as well as international student support.
It is our specialist advice work that sets us apart from other support services; we are able to undertake casework on behalf of our student clients and advocate on their behalf. Our finance advisers belong to a Group Debt Counselling Licence under the Consumer Credit Act.
The ASC also has a wealth of generic information to support students in areas such as health, consumer rights and employment as well as legal and personal matters.
The centre is equipped with a computerised information system which is a recognised national system used in local Citizens Advice Bureaux. We also have local knowledge and information and have national support networks.
The centre is committed to making our services accessible and responsive to all students. The centre continues to improve and develop and, in doing so, *welcomes comments, suggestions and ideas for developing further services.*
