Candidate running for Sports and Societies Vice-President
Hello, I am Roderick Clark and I am going for the Sports and Societies Vice President in the up and coming elections. The job involves me becoming the face of the union in regards to sports and society activities. A role I am very passionate about as I feel that sports and societies should be the pride of the entire university and specific to campuses, a view that my main policies reflect on.
I am a 3rd year student on the PE course based in Walsall, I have also been involved in sport since I was a little nipper playing basketball and football at country level. Although not obvious to look at me now, as the belly has more than doubled, this passion for sport has followed me here, as I have played for the football team for my full 3 years. Being here has made me into the person I am today and I want to give you, the people that make this University, the opportunities that will mould you. Corny? Yes, but come on.
My main focus is to increase the accessibility of sports and societies to all campuses to get more of you involved. These I my main ideas for next year:
- To organise a societies fair in Walsall and on City campus during fresher week to spread the word of the societies and get more people involved.
- To create more publicity surrounding society events and meetings.
- To organise, if possible two varsity days, one at the beginning of the year and one towards the end
- To organise sports teams to go to Callellafest, which is multi-sports festival for UK university teams close to a sunny beach in the Mediterranean
- To attempt to create more fixtures for the sports teams so that the seasons don’t finish late January.
If you make your mark and vote Roddy Clark, I promise to you that I will give my all in achieving these goals and many more.
