Candidate running for President (Finance and Governance)

The Student Union President Role is to represent YOU, the student in everything. The University of Wolverhampton’s Student Union provides many services to its Students from excellent sports facilities and teams to offering the students with new personal and social experiences.

During my three years at the University of Wolverhampton I have been an active student contributing in all aspects of University life.  I have been part of a sports team, worked in the Student Union and had the opportunity to represent the students as a Non-Sabbatical Sports Officer.  My experience at this University has not only developed me academically and socially, but has given me an insight into the running of the Union and I feel I am the perfect candidate for the job. I want to represent the Students as President  and give them many more opportunities to enjoy their time at University.

This year I want to achieve:

*    To work with the University to make sure Halls rents and rates are fair and value for money.

*    To provide better signposting for the University Services, especially in regards to Career and Employment advice post graduation. 

*    A greater flow of information between YOU and YOUR  Union and bring the Union and all its benefits to all Students.

*    I want to further the student voice, it has improved this year but I want more and more Students to become involved with all aspects of the Students Union.

*    Security needs to be improved on all campuses, from car park security to halls of residence.

*    Organize and bid for grants to improve and offer enhanced student services. 

*    To campaign to encourage more involvement of International Students in University Life and try to further expand their experience during study. 

*    To create greater community ties with local organisations and develop volunteering opportunities for students.

*    To encourage the University to provide access for University Services  on ALL campuses. 

*    Encourage the use of students in the organisation and running of activities and events rather than relying on full time staff in the Union.


This University has a lot to offer its students; however, I feel improvements can still be made. A  Students Union President should be confident, dynamic and focussed in representing the student’s voice.
