Candidate running for Welfare and Campaigns Vice-President
CAROLINE ROSE
Welfare
Working towards a safer Wolverhampton - continuing my work from this year with the police and council to achieve noticeable results.
Working with the local community - I will work with the home students’ officer to create community reps.
Alcohol awareness– know your limits home office campaign- bringing a national campaign to your union.
Work on regional level to develop the Bestmates safety campaign with the police
Re-run awareness campaigns from this year including SHAG and don’t go bananas.
Continue my work to get medical provision on campus
Halls of residence remain high on my agenda due to the introduction of co-op housing nationwide and the growth in privatisation of halls.
Union
Ensure the development and growth of crywolf (student paper)
Drive the union forward for the vital charities act changes in 2008/9
As this year’s sabbaticals have chosen to enter the SUEI (Students’ Union Evaluation Initiative) we will be able to measure how effective our work is. It will lead to strategic planning for the next 5 years. I feel that I can really leave my stamp on this Students Union and University.
Nationally
Nationally, I would like to engage with the NUS as we look forward to positive change when the NUS governance review goes through this April!
I will attend all welfare zone conferences and network events as it is vital that I learn from other unions and share your success stories as I have this year.
I will also run for a position on an, probably mature students committee.
