Candidate running for Diversity Officer
ANN ELIZABETH HAYWARD
A founder member of the Mature Students’ Society, Secretary for the Sign Language Society and member of the Diversity Committee and Union Council.
I am acutely aware of issues surrounding many of our students, who need to be recognised for their individuality and personal needs.
As an advocate of all rights to all students I would like the University and Union to embrace and celebrate the rich diverse culture many of our students bring. I want the University to become closer and encourage more tolerance within the student body through awareness and knowledge.
New indicatives I would implement include:
A Disabled Group to help break down barriers of learning which some of our disabled students have encountered.
Increase accessibility to the sport facilities for all students.
Continue the Student Union’s campaign towards mental health awareness and support.
I will work towards ensuring there is inclusion not exclusion within the University.
